During Warm Summer Months, Your Pond's Water Level Will Need To Be Regularly Maintained To Keep Your Aquatic Life And Systems In Top Shape.



How important can keeping your pond's water level the same REALLY be?  Extremely.  In the summer months, water will evaporate from your pond at an accelerated rate.  Keeping the pond topped off regularly will stop the pond from drying out and keep your oxygenating plants healthy.  These plants are crucial for maintaining an appropriate nutrient level for your fish. 

The evaporation can also wreak havoc on water quality by increasing ammonia and nitrates. This can require consistent testing and chemical solutions to hold steady the fine balance for your pond's ecosystem.  If your water levels become too low, your pump system and other equipment can sustain severe damage by sucking in nothing but air.

Maintaining a steady water level is only one of the much needed tasks that your pond requires during the hot summer months.  Keeping it healthy and beautiful throughout the season will make it easier to prepare for the coming winter as well.
